“popping and locking” may be dead:
But blogging, it’s alive and well.
The International Blogger Championship Tournament is a celebration of success, ONLINE.
I originally created this tournament to inspire and motivate you to be the best by learning from the best in the blogging biz.
These digital masters of the universe have set the bar so high you’ll need more than a ladder to touch it.
What does it take to reach this level of success?
Well, I wouldn’t know to be honest as I haven’t done it myself (YET) as a matter of fact my blog didn’t even make the cut this year.
The highest ranked blogger that I’ve had the pleasure of talking to about such things is Harsh Agrawal who is ranked #7 overall this year.
Don’t Miss What I learned from Harsh Agrawal the founder of ShoutMeLoud.com
But, I heard blogging is going away because of social media?
The truth is Mike Elgan, an extremely popular and successful “social media blogger” who is a main proponent of this idea and others who agree with him are simply wrong. *READ Why Mike Elgan is wrong about blogging.
The #IBCT is proof.
Last year the highest rated blog according to Alexa.com was Jacob Gube’s SixRevisions.com which was ranked #2,512. Therefore last year NO blogs in the #IBCT ranked higher than 2,000 according to alexa.
This year there are 3 blogs that have broken through this 2,000 mark and if someone doesn’t stop Neil Patel he may be the first blogger to break into Alexa’s top 500 Sites on the internet at the rate he’s climbing.
*That’s an amazing accomplishment.
This means the mainstream mega sites like the Mashables and the Huffingtonposts’s may one day be surpassed by “mom and pop” independent bloggers.
That is unless something “blocks” them.

Neil is a terrific blogger! His posts must take a ton of time to write (don’t know if he writes them all himself), they’re long, detailed and very attractively presented.
I see a lot of familiar names on this list and a few of them, I was surprised to see further down than I thought they would be. Actually, I think it’s very cool that less well-known bloggers are climbing the ranks higher than some of the long-standing big blogs.
Speaking of something taking a ton of time, that’s what it must’ve taken you to co-ordinate all of this! Thank-you for doing it!

What’s up Shirlee,
Yeah Neil is “kind of a big deal” I have to say he’s not ranked #1 by accident.
There are some techniques that I notice he and the very top bloggers use frequently that others can’t seem to grasp.
Yes, it took me a tremendous amount of time to put this together but I do it because I really want to learn from the best and encourage others to do the same.
Thanks for the feedback I really appreciate it.
BTW, who would you nominate for the #IBCT next year? What’s your fav blog that didn’t make the list?

Oh man this is great….even though its about the best 256 blogs many are not yet followed by me now i am gonna visit some of them and explore something new fro their blogs….Neil patel and Harsh Agarwal are really awesome.. i think you should include Imran Uddin too he deserves to be in this list.

Hi Darnell,
Thanks for this awesome list and congrats to all on the list.
I have been blogging about a year so, when I looked at this list, I didn’t expect to be on it.
I’m surprised that some prominent marketers are not on this list.
Eric Holmlund, Paul Counts, Carol Amato and I could go on.
I was surprised to see Kristi in that spot, I figured she’d be higher.
Thanks so much for all the work you did compiling this list because now, I have more blogs to visit.

Yeah the #IBCT sheds a different light on all bloggers as the rankings are sorted by Alexa score.
There are tons of marketers on this list who I know are killing it that didn’t make the top 64 but that’s just a reflection of how fierce the competition is this year.
If you compare the results of last year to this year and check the rankings its clear why the bloggers at the top are there, they really are on another level.
NOW who do you pick as your favorite? All those people you mentioned I’ll take a look at for next year but who should win the 2014 #IBCT?
Darnell Jackson recently posted…2014 #IBCT – Sweet Sixteen
Hi Darrell, quite the list of 256. Thanks for including mine as well. I think John Paul Aguiar and Lori Taylor’s should have been in the top 25-50 though. Were they in any particular order? Great way to find new blogs too, thank you!

Thanks for stopping by yeah they are sorted by Alexa rank at the time this article was published (Alexa rank changes slightly almost daily).
I might agree with you on JPA’s ranking but I have to keep it objective, truth is he’s launched another blog and I’d bet that’s the reason for his ranking slide focusing on another site. I did add it to the watchlist for 2015 so we’ll see how it all works out.
Darnell Jackson recently posted…2014 #IBCT – Sweet Sixteen
Hi Darnell, Great list of top bloggers. I was especially delighted to see Adrienne Smith make your list. You missed one of my other favorite bloggers, Harleena Singh of Aha-Now, whose excellent blog is ranked at just under 26,000 by Alexa.
I’m sure this post took a lot of work and research, Darnell. Compiling this list and cross-checking it with Alexa must had taken a lot of time!

Hello darnell; this sounds like fun but brackets aren’t the easiest thing for a blind blogger to navigate. I will mention a few of my favorites and hope they win. I was happy to see that one of the first of my online friends farnoosh made it in although for her to only be 256 tells me alexa robbed her. smile I didn’t read the whole list, but I would hope my faves robin hallett adrienne smith ashley faulkes lorraine reguly susan p cooper kumar agirwald made it in. and if no one has done it yet i hope that next year there will be at least one blind blogger in the tournament. thanks for the list and th fun contest. take care, Max

Hey Darnell,
That’s so cool to be on this list Darnell and among some pretty awesome blogs. To be listed just over 100 ain’t too bad my friend and I’m not disappointed I didn’t make your cut. I had a rough ending to last year and beginning to this one so my numbers aren’t as good as they have been. That’s okay, my blog is still alive and doing well so I’m not complaining at all.
Great list and thanks again.
