3 Reasons you should include Freelance Writing in Your Online Business Model

MayBe Marinda by Darnell Jackson

When you hear these 3 little words “MAKE MONEY ONLINE” what’s the first thing that comes to your mind?

Seriously, what is it?

Do you think about the websites with 75 banner ads crammed into the sidebar with pop ups jumping on your browser like fleas off a mangy dog?

Do you think about the one page squeeze page sites where you get the “WAIT DON”T LEAVE” message when you “X out of it.” like me and Wade Harman’s mom says, lol?

I’ll never understand that.

I’m sure these so called “expert marketing” types will claim that they get sales after telling someone “wait, don’t leave” but how many MORE people do they turn off with this desperate begging blogger tactic (DBB).

What else do you think of when you hear the words, “make money online”?

Maybe you think about people who sell their own products like I have the Holiday Insider Club which you can join and get paid by the way.

Selling your own product sounds like a good option but do you have time to create you own product BEFORE you get paid?

What happens between now and the time you make your first sell?

There has to be a better way to make money for your online business right?

Maybe you considered selling Affiliate products?

This is when you get paid to promote other people’s products through affiliate systems like Amazon, Clickbank, JVZOO, etc like Steve Scott who has been earning six figures selling affiliate products for years.

It’s really a simple process but it’s not as easy as it may sound.  There’s a LOT of moving parts that you have to pull together to really make money.

Because of the complexity for most people this isn’t the strongest option.

This is why I wrote this list.

3 Reasons you should include Freelance Writing in Your Online Business Model

#1 Your online business needs promotion.

No promotion = No growth motion

Use your head muscle for a moment and think about it.

How many articles are there being published every week with links back to your website from larger more established websites?

Yeah I know I’m sure you’ve heard all about writing guest posts which is cool but I’m not talking about that.

I’m talking about getting paid as a Freelancer.

Imagine getting paid to write articles for popular blogs that actually give you credit and a link back to your main site?

Talk about a WIN WIN?  This is what it’s all about.

This means you are literally getting paid to promote your own freaking website.

See how important strategy is?  Now do you see why I talk about it all the time?

Write Articles 01

The diagram above is the winning strategy.

WRITE PAID ARTICLE means any article or content that you get paid to write or create.

In my interview with Gail Gardner from GrowMap.com this is discussed don’t miss our 1 hour conversation…[Click here to listen early].  Ok now the post is published click here for the full page.

It’s all about cause and effect.

The cause that you bring by writing an article as a freelancer results in the effect of money, referral traffic for your site, more social followers, and eventually more customers.

Consistency is key.  This is what I learned from all of the awesome online entrepreneurs that I study.

Write Articles 02

As a business owner your advantage HAS to be your strategy.

It’s chess NOT checkers my friends, I WANT YOU TO WIN.

Let me be clear, I want you to be able to provide for yourself and your loved ones completely from the success of your online business.

TODAY your biz needs promotion and you need money so this strategy is a win-win.

If your PAID articles are not accepted you should then submit them as guests posts that way at least you’ll get some value from your effort.

Guest posts will result in referral traffic and more social followers which will eventually result in more customers, if you are consistent.

One of the funny things is you never know until after the fact how your customers came to hear about you.

They could have saw a social share from someone else who read one of your FREE guest posts.  The person that read it may never ever become one of your customers but they sure helped you find one.  Use strategy stick to the system.

If you #BlogSoHard muthasuckers wanna you, then you should know that after you submit your article for money to one site if it is rejected you should first try to get paid from it again before you submit it as a free guest post.  WHY?

It may not be a good fit for WEBSITE A but WEBSITE B might love it, so, GET MONEY, or if you speak Latin, DITESCO!

#2 – Writing articles as a Freelancer builds Credibility.

You become part of a successful website when you contribute by writing articles.

Paid or unpaid as a freelancer that mojo stays on you by association.

This is why you notice so many top bloggers using the logos of the popular publications that they have written for.

This works like window cleaner on a mosquito bite.

Look at the diagrams above, now think about how many chances you are giving yourself to improve your credibility each week?

The more people see your name next to or featured on an established blog the more they will understand that you are also successful and established.

#3 – Networking and Collaboration.

Success begets success.

People want to work with other people who were part of something successful.

If you ever listen to entertainment news you’ll notice many of the behind the scenes contributors seem to not have names, they are just known by their work or what MOVIE they have worked on.

INSTANT TRIVIA FAST name the graphic artist who did the CGI for the character Gollum in the Lord of the rings.
Drawing a blank? See what I mean.

This is also how it works on the internet.

When “someone with a lot of money” decides they are going to launch something they think hmmmm I want the guy who did the header for this site to do my header.

I want the writer from this site to write 25 articles, I want the graphics guy from this site to hook up my images.

If you want to be apart of this “draft” then you need to put your best foot forward.

Get your name in the hat.

This will only result in more money from selling articles, more exposure from publishing guests posts and more success for your online business.

    Hi Darrell,

These are some good points you present here. It really is all about working smarter, not harder isn’t it?

I’m just starting to get into guest posting because one of my readers actually asked me to do a post swap. But, I agree – as freelance writers, it’s not wrong to look for opportunities to kill 2 birds with one stone as long as you are staying ethical in how you do so. That’s called being smart.

I’m going to take your advice and spare myself some frustration by looking for ways to market my writing strategically.
