Unless you’re like me you’ve probably seen at least ONE of these movies that have made the Oscar Nominations for 2013.
Personally, I sandbag the entire entertainment industry by waiting and buying DVD’s instead of going to the movies.
I wonder why I should pay $20 just to watch a movie that I could buy for $20?
I’ve been called worse.
I don’t think these movie stars need another twenty dollars of mine, they have plenty.
I’m trying to get where they are. Seriously, if you have a movie call me.
How can a Hollywood best picture help your blog?
The best way to know the future is to plan.
If you understand the movie industry product cycle then your blog CAN take advantage.
The movies that are nominated for awards today will be for sale before you know it as DVDs and other consumer goods that have a habit of leaching on to successful films.
This is what you should do with your blog,
live leach a little. lol
3 ways your blog can exploit the 2013 Oscar Nominations:
#1 Write Reviews
Mix up your content with a movie review.
It doesn’t matter what your genre is people always have opinions about entertainment and if you do it right you can really connect with your audience.
Try to tie in what happened in the movie with what has happened on your blog. Explain how much some character reminds you of someone your audience can relate to.
You can also chime in on the fact that your favorite movie didn’t get an Oscar, etc. Providing value with a review or an opinion with a comment is a great way to build a stronger connection with your audience.
#2 Cheap SEO.
This is a completely WHITE HAT blogging tip but it just feels like it’s not.
Knowing that these movies will be trending topics for months to come, start uploading images that use the movie title as a keywords in the FILE NAME and DESCRIPTION.
Your blog will get traffic from people searching about these popular movies.
Instead of reusing images you find online take pictures of the movie poster when you go see the film so you won’t have copyright issues. Make a story of the fact that you are going to see the movie. Give a post movie recap and find a way to tie in your products and services.
*Use coupons and special offers for best results.
#3 Marketing and Copywriting.
NO, you don’t have the budget of a Hollywood feature film but you can still get impressive results. Study the marketing campaigns of the most popular movies and integrate what you find into your marketing strategy.
What did you notice about:
- The official movie website. Design, color, copy, call to action, etc.
- Major review websites. What content has the studio published on behalf of the movie? How is it different on different review websites?
- Promotion distribution. What new techniques did you notice the studio used to brand and distribute the film that your blog could use as inspiration?
- Partnerships and affiliations. Who did the production companies partner with for affiliate products? How did THEY tie the movie in to their product? Use this as an example of what you can do with your blog.
