It happens every time.
Anytime I meet someone new and I explain what I do for a living they ALWAYS ask:
Yeah but how do you ACTUALLY make money?
Overall, that was the biggest question that I got from the people I met at Art Walk Wednesday.
So, I figured I would focus this episode of #SoMeSa on just that.
Making Money Online.
Most people wrongly believe that creating a reliable income on the internet is not possible.
You can’t blame them though due to the high percentage of get rich over night clowns out there.
That’s why I created the #IBCT.
I wanted to motivate people to see what’s possible with a blog.
I’m hijacking this episode of #SoMeSa to explain how professional bloggers make the moolah.
Here are FIVE links that can help you understand what’s possible:
Basically there’s only 3 ways to male money online:
- Selling advertisements. (adsense PPC, sponsored posts, banners, etc.)
- Selling affiliate products. (Amazon, clickbank, direct deals, etc.)
- Selling you’re own products/services. (Paypal, Amazon, iTunes, clickbank, design, speaking, etc.)

Finding Nemo was a great movie so I’m not surprised to see it trending.
It’s a heart warming story that makes me want to do everything except stop eating fish.
Finding dory is the new sequel by Disney, check out the trailer.
Google nose was an April fool joke but to be honest Google glass is also.
Seriously, who the hell want’s to walk around with a cell phone strapped to their face?
Just to show the mentality of people in 2013.
The number one searched image of the last seven days was Kevin Ware.
Not because of how amazing a player this young man is, but because of how horrific an injury he suffered in the NCAA tournament.
It’s like watching a car crash or a train wreck, I guess some people can’t resist it the have to watch it.
I haven’t seen the injury and I hope I never see it. Ge well soon bro.
Louisville guard Kevin Ware was the most searched news topic for the last seven days.
When you break your leg like that it gets attention.
It’s interesting seeing Korea as the top trending news topic.
Now I guess it’s time for a new war Asian style?
It’s very interesting to see umbrellas and parasols as the most popular trending product for the last 7 days.
I guess I should expect it with it being spring and all.
Retailers can you pick up on a hint?
Samsung continues to out pace iphone and amazon which should tell you electronic gadget marketers something about which devices are in demand.
It should also tell you about where people want to buy, notice itunes isn’t there but amazon is.
As expected everyone wants to watch the finding dory trailer on youtube this is to be expected anytime a big sequel comes out of Hollywood which happens every other week these days unfortunately.
Seeing full movie higher than music should tell you something about what people generally want from YouTube.
I think it’s clear the transition to an on demand movie channel is what’s happening.
What”s the point of all of this?
If you are a blogger or an internet marketer then you need to understand what people are searching for before you plan.
This is what strategy is all about.
Understanding what topics are trending can give you confirmation on your gut feelings or it can inspire you to look in another direction.
Make sure you check out the previous episodes so you can see how certain topics change with the season.
It’s very interesting when you look back like they say hindsight is 20/20.
Now it’s over to you.
