Social Media Saturday #SoMeSa – ep. 4

For the second straight week Social Media Sam is sad due to loss of life.

In case you missed it, the last episode of Social Media Saturday #SoMeSa – ep. 3 covered the tragedy of what happened in the Boate Kiss night club last week.

This week Chris Kyle is featured as he was killed at a gun range reportedly by another Marine he was trying to help.

His name was the #1 searched term on Google for the last 7 days:

If you follow me on Twitter or Google+ you know I’m against these senseless wars and I think the popular saying “support our troops”  means bring them home.

Anyway.

When I found out that Chris Kyle was the victim I can’t deny my first though was, wait a minute, wasn’t that the guy that said he punched Gov.Jesse Ventura?

Then I remember that Jesse Ventura had called him a liar and sued him for his claim.

Then I remembered Chris Kyle appearing on television basically bragging about how many people he killed, he even wrote a book about it called American Sniper: The Autobiography of the Most Lethal Sniper in U.S. Military History.

I thought. Well, Karma’s a bitch.  If you live by the sword you probably won’t die from a spider bite.  Maybe he shouldn’t have shot dead over 160 people,  some from MILES away with his super high powered rifles?

Then I remembered this quote from Gandhi:

Hate the sin.  Love the sinner.

….and I thought damn, this man Chris Kyle left behind a family that now has been traumatized FOREVER by these events.

Someone lost a dad, husband, father, son, brother, cousin, uncle, friend, neighbor, and more.

I can only imagine what they are going though right now so I send my condolences, thoughts, and prayers.

> Moment of silence. <

> Back to #SoMeSa <

I made the decision when I started the #SoMeSa series to talk about the number one trending topic on the interwebs no matter how inconvenient or controversial.

I’ts not up to me I just talk about what happens and share it with you.

Hopefully something good will happen for next weeks episode.

I don’t know what else to tell you except “think good thoughts”.

SoMeSA Tip #2 – Twitter:

This week was also big for Twitter as the news came out that advertisers mentioned it during the Super Bowl more than any other social media platform.

The moral of the story, Twitter isn’t going anywhere.  I hope Apple doesn’t buy them even though they should if they want to stop their decline.

The second tip of this episode comes from David Masters.  I know everyone is trying to do the same thing on twitter so don’t miss his article, and don’t forget to tell him I sent you:

SoMeSA Tip #3 – LinkedIn:

I know I get it, I’m supposed to be working on my linked in profile but I just keep putting it off, are you like me? Comment below.

This weeks LinkedIn tip comes from Pat Flynn of SmartPassiveIncome.com.  Don’t miss his pod cast interview with Lewis Howes titled:

That’s all folks for this episode as Barack loves to say.
