Social Media Saturday #SoMeSa – ep. 5 – Why the Pope Quit?

Social Media Saturday #SoMeSa – ep. 5 (Why the pope quit?)

For the first time in three weeks Social Media Sam™ is happy, happy, happy like my main man Willie says on Duck Hunter Dynasty.

If you missed the previous episode check out what I had to say about Chris Kyle – RIP.

You can also follow all of the latest #SoMeSa episodes from the main page.

This week the trending topics were misaligned if you will.

The #1 searched term on Google for Web, Image, News, and Product were all different.

In past episodes the #1 searched term dominated multiple categories like Giovanna Plowman and Chris Kyle.

This week when people searched for products they wanted a cookbook.

I guess it’s that time of the season?  Pre spring must mean get in the kitchen and start cooking something.

When they searched the web they wanted to read about Oscar Pistorius.

This is an amazingly tragic story of the man who over came all odds to make it to the Olympics last year with NO LEGS; only to get arrested and charged with the premeditated murder of his girlfriend, model Reeva Steenkamp.

When people searched for images they were looking for Valentines day.

Maybe this is why people were searching cookbook so much?  Love is in the air or it was now that Valentines day is over.  I wonder what cupid is doing now?  Maybe he works part time with Santa’s elves during the off season?

When people searched for news they wanted to read about the Pope.

I’m not trying to religion bash or whatever but you have to admit this is the creepiest looking dude ever.  I think the first pope to have a twitter account was also the first pope to get shamed into retirement by the internet.   If this was a just world he would be in prison.

#SoMeSa is all about helping you leverage social media to grow your online business.

This starts with awareness of trending topics.

Because, if you don’t KNOW what’s going on and you speak you tend to make your self look like a geek dweeb.

SoMeSA Tip #2 – YouTube:

This weeks YouTube tip comes from an outstanding guest post by Ana Hoffman for Ms. Ileane’s basicblogtips.com.

Before I get into my last and definitely not least tip I want to make a confession.

Maybe you will join me by doing the same.

Well, here it goes…

There I said it.

It’s true, I do.

I don’t have that many “friends” and maybe 3 people have liked my page.

I set up my page or whatever but I just don’t get what I’m supposed to be doing can someone help me out?

SoMeSA Tip #2 – Facebook:

This week Facebook was in the news for all the wrong reasons:

  • It was reported that more people are taking a multi week break from facebook.  Sounds like a nice way to say that people are quitting but don’t know how to tell Marky Z, “it’s over”.
  • Yesterday it was reported that Facebook was hacked, but no data was compromised.  Who really believes that?  Yeah right and leprechauns ride unicorns when they hang with big foot.

With that said.

Don’t think that Facebook isn’t a huge opportunity to grow your online business.

This weeks Facebook tip comes from a guest post by Ryan Biddulph for Hesham’s FamousBloggers.net don’t miss this outstanding article:

Why Are You Struggling to Make Money Online with Facebook?

*Hesham is the reigning #IBCT Champ.

That’s it for this episode of #SoMeSa.

If this post was useful in anyway let me know.

Don’t forget to share your favorite SM tips using the hashtag.

Now it’s over to you:

Why do you think so many people are searching for cookbooks?

What do you think cupid is doing now?

Do you really believe hackers took nothing when they successfully cracked Facebook?
