Social Media Saturday #SoMeSa – ep. 6 – Mindy McCready


Welcome to Social Media Saturday episode number 6.


This week Social Media Sam™ is sad due to the horrible news about Mindy McCready who was found dead last Sunday after apparently committing suicide.

From her Wikipedia page:

…McCready was found dead on her front porch, the same place where David Wilson, her former boyfriend and the father of her younger son, had killed himself one month prior

My prayers and wishes go out to her family.

Mindy McCready was the #1 searched term on Google for the past 7 days.

last week there was no clear #1 trending topic even though the POPE quit.

This shows the impact that Mindy had on people’s lives.


This week when people searched Google they were looking for more info about Mindy McCready.

This shocking story is almost unbelievable and surreal, this is why I believe it connected with so many people worldwide.


This week when people searched Google for images they were looking for pictures of Mindy McCready.

This story is so huge I would guess that most of these searches were from people that didn’t know who she was and wanted to put a face to a name.  Now you’ll see a spike in her album sales.  I hope her children get their mamma’s money.  


This week when people searched Google for News they clicked on stories about the new Playstation 4.

This shows there is demand for the product set to launch soon. How much?  We’ll see.

Personally I think gaming is like steroids for TV, want to accelerate your dumb?  Get a PS4, done.


This week when people searched Google for Products they clicked on links about dog beds.

This gives you an idea of what people are thinking of spending their money on.  The dog.

Imagine how awesome it would be if people cared about people as much as animals?

When people say they like animals better than people isn’t that a sarcastic way of admitting to being a sociopath?

Why is it cool to not care about people but cry over a tree?  Maybe it’s just me.






In order to leverage social media to grow your online business you need to understand trending topics.

Then you need to develop a strategy and take action quickly.


Social media isn’t all about getting a bunch of reshares and likes on a page.

It’s about increasing your conversions and building your brand.
