The 12 most Important Posts of 2012 for Your Online Business #IBCT

It’s time to preview the second annual International Blogger Championship Tournament also know as the #IBCT.

I read so many blogs it’s crazy.

One day I’ll write a post about how many blogs I actually follow everyday, people may not believe how many I follow but it’s a ton.

I scour the internet daily like one of those treasure hunters at the beach with a metal detector but most of what I find is useless junk like an old soup can buried in the dirt.

However, every now and then, usually about once a WEEK or so I’ll come across an article or a blog that’s like finding a valuable rare coin or an artifact that I can’t help telling the world about.

This is why I created the #IBCT in the first place.

I wanted people who don’t know anything about blogging to learn from the best of the best instead of the internet clowns from outer space and their “instant get rich” non-sense.

It’s a lot of work, seriously but like Drake said on his first major single, “You can thank me now” when you rewteet this article. lol ;)

Thanks, I really appreciate it.  Don’t forget to follow me too…………..ahhhh thanks.

Very soon I’ll announce the official start of the 2013 #IBCT tournament and the official 64 selections.

For now please post a comment below to nominate your favorite blog and share your feedback on the first 12.

The first 12 selections were picked for a number of reasons:

  1. They exemplify how Your Online Business and your “real” business should be integrated.
  2. They nail it.  They reveal important information, concepts, and techniques about blogging in the best way I’ve seen.
  3. They inspire.  After I read these posts I felt very motivated and inspired to take action. I’m hoping these 12 posts will have the same effect on you.  #BlogSoHard

FamousBloggers.net

In 2012 Hesham Zebida made his blog more than famous he made it important.  FamousBloggers has become so popular that it has attracted thousands of subscribers and unfortunately we know with love comes hate.  The champion of the inaugural #IBCT was hacked in 2012 using a scheme that very few people have ever heard about.   I think Hesham set a great example of how to turn a negative into a positive.  Don’t miss his post on WordPress security.  Thanks Hesham.

JohnPaulAguiar.com

In 2012 I used ONE of John Paul’s tips and I DOUBLED my Twitter followers.

Also I finally understood why he says if you aren’t pissing someone off on Twitter you’re not doing it right.   It didn’t make sense then but now it does and it’s hilarious how right he was. ;)

The article that caught my attention most in 2012 was his post on 6 Of the Top Names In Podcasting.  Another great example of what I consider epic high quality content.  This is the type of post that you can’t find anywhere.  Who knows how long it took him to put this together?  I’m just glad he did it.  Thanks JP.

ProBlogger.net

There are over 640 million websites in the world, Darren’s blog is in the top 3600.

Think about that.

If you started with the top 1% of all websites and then selected the top 1% of those websites you would still have 64,000 remaining.

Darren’s blog is #1 because he crushes it.  There really is no other way to put it.  This post was one that caught my eye the most.  The more I read this blog the more I learn.  Thanks Darren.

ShoeMoney.com

This was one of the first blogs I nominated for the inaugural #IBCT.  Jeremy’s one of the top bloggers because of posts like this where he shares the statistics of sending over 30 million emails.  There are 8 findings that you should integrate into your email system NOW.  Experienced bloggers know the value of this information is insane; the idea that he is sharing this should tell you something.

If you had this info would you really put it out there?

He did.  Thanks Jeremy.

Copyblogger.com

Brian’s blog is so full with great content that I had a very difficult time finding the best post for 2012.  Thanks to Sonia for putting together this best of CopyBlogger post so now you get to judge for yourself.

One thing I learned from Brian that I’ll never forget is to write every day.  This one piece of advice has probably helped me more than anything else. Thanks Brian.

SteveScottSite.com

2012 was a year of many firsts for my blogging career.

One of the highlights was my exclusive interview with one of the TOP bloggers in the world Steve Scott.

This was my first interview so it was a big deal for me but the information he shared was even bigger.  It was important.

Picking a best post from Steve’s blog was impossible so I just picked this one about why your traffic sucks as it is perfect for people who are serious about making it on the internet.  Thanks Steve.

YoungPrePro.com

Bamidele Onibalusi is one of the top up and coming bloggers right now because of how well he explains how to overcome the challenges of a struggling freelance writer.

His story is inspirational and motivational for anyone out there with a pulse and a real desire to make it online.  His recent post about actually getting clients to pay you is one that I think is very important, do not miss this.  Thanks Bamidele.

SimplyStatedBusiness.com

I discovered Cathy’s blog in 2012 and was immediately impressed with her writing style.

Basically reading her blog is like the time when you have a good discussion with someone on a long flight that you never met.

Her post about the most popular types of posts is extremely valuable and important for smart bloggers who are planning their content ahead of time.  Thanks Cathy.

MakeALivingWriting.com

I discovered Carol’s site in 2012.  After reading about three posts I nominated her blog for the #IBCT.

I was also inspired by her guest post policy and I plan to begin paying writers for guests posts starting in 2013.

A recent article she published was one of her best all year as she basically laid out everything  you need for freelance writing success.  Thanks Carol.

LeavingWorkBehind.com

Tom is serious and making it happen online in a major way.

Talk about an inspiration Tom quit his job and didn’t look back now he’s making more money than I’m sure he would have made if he kept his old job.  Talk about AWESOME.

If this post about launching an information product doesn’t motivate you to take action, probably nothing will.

NicksTrafficTricks.com

I’m still not sure how I found Nick’s site but I came across it at some point in 2012 and I’m glad I did.

His recent post is a great example that I’ll use over and over again because it’s so simple and it explains what making money is all about.

Entrepreneurs need to understand how to separate real prospects from pretenders.  Businesses simply exist to make their owners more money than they started with.  Your Online Business should do the exact same thing.  Thanks Nick

ImJustSharing.com

Last and definitely not the least I have to give a big shout out to Mitch at I’m Just Sharing.  I first wrote about this blog in the inaugural #IBCT and I’ve been following it ever since.

I’ve learned a ton from Mitch over the past year, I think this post about what’s better facebook or Google+ summarizes what I mean.  Quality content always wins.  Blogs were built for interaction.  If people aren’t joining the conversation you’re not doing it right.

This post is the most important and meaningful of all especially for me.  It’s the first blog post that featured a product that I created which was a huge deal for me.  It brought much needed attention and buzz to the HIC product launch in a major way, thanks Mitch.

PS – God-wiling I’ll see you in 2016 with another product launch.  ;)

PPS –  Give yourself a pat on the back.  Check out the video below, you helped make a difference. Thanks Bro.  #PayItForward.

Thanks for reading.

If you own, write, or read any of the blogs above please post a comment with your nominations for the 2013 #IBCT.
