What an Amazing year this has been.
With only a few days left 2013 is long in the teeth as they say and the 2014 baby is coming in next week to take over.
I don’t know why but I’ve always thought this baby/old man new years analogy was hilarious but very true in many ways.
The new year starts with all the aspirations and dreams and hopes of what you wish to accomplish but by the end you’re just happy to have made it out alive.
When the year starts you don’t know jack about what the rest of the year has in store for you, that is unless you have a plan.
One of the things that I harp about continuously is strategy of which planning is the core.
It is the only way to know the future.
- For example I’m already planning on how I will promote my favorite tournament the 2014 #IBCT next year and I have already started selecting and nominating bloggers. I will double the list from 128 to 256 bloggers next year.
- Also, I have already identified the product that I will be launching next year and I have already received some really cool submissions and contributions from some very talented and popular writers, thank you again, you know who you are. (sorry I can’t say who just yet.)
However, the biggest thing that I’m planning is how I will break through in 2014 to the next level:
I will make a huge shift away from publishing “tips”to specifically helping people accomplish something important. My primary goal now is getting people to testify that the advice they receive from me helped them in a substantial way. This is the new fuel for the youronline.biz spaceship.
Well it’s simple really.
I’m on the level where I know in order for me to go any higher I have to first help other people accomplish something meaningful and important.
I know that once I help someone accomplish something really useful that they will tell others who will then in tern come for help and also tell others who will then do the same.
Ultimately, these referrals will “compound” and result in a cascading effect that will generate many more people who’ll want my help than I can serve on a one on one basis.
This demand will require me to provide even more value in a product such as a book or premium training course.
Then if the premium product genuinely helps people I have a chance to go on to the next level after that.
Then, it just keeps going on and on and on.
I’m sharing my plans with you so that you can understand and see where you fit in as I review the top posts of 2013 for your online business.
Without a doubt you fit in somewhere between not having a blog, where I am today, and where these amazingly successful bloggers are now.
With that said before I get to the list of top posts of the year here are:
The 13 Most Important people to follow of 2013 for Your Online Business:
#1 – Gail Gardner @GrowMap
Double G helps more bloggers in a real way than the law should allow. (Let me stop before I give the alphabet boys any ideas.) Seriously, Gail is always sharing cool stuff. Earlier this year she shared with me this awesome page turning book which really puts your situation in perspective and gives you classic ideas that you can use to get out of any financial situation (If you’re a fighter). Gail’s blog was also selected as #1 by the people in the second annual IBCT.
#2 – Carol Tice @TiceWrites
Carol’s popular because so many people she trains go on to make really good money as freelance writers. So, it’s not surprising that she also shares awesome tips on her blog and twitter so if you’re a writer you should follow her. However, the reason why I recommend you follow her this time is because sometimes she also posts hilarious stuff like this:
#3 – Linda Formichelli @LFormichelli
Listen to me very carefully. Linda will help you as a freelance writer so follow her on Twitter, no details will be provided as to why I am saying this but just trust me on this one or thank me later or both. Anyway, thanks again Linda for all that you do keep up the good work.
#4 – Ileane Smith @Ileane
Ms Ileane is one of my favorite examples of what is possible with internet marketing. Every time I check she just keeps climbing up the rankings higher and higher. It’s hard to say if it’s because of her blog or her podcasts when both are really good. If you’re like me and can’t decide follow her on twitter and get updates whenever she publishes something new on both.
#5 - Tyler Cruz @tylercruzdotcom
Tyler Cruz gets money online like a BOSS and inspires others in the process. Follow the man and learn how he turns quarters into dollars by investing into his online businesses that yield an amazing 50%+ ROI on average, WOW.
#6 - Jon Loomer Jon Loomer Digital
I actually found out about Jon after writing for a client earlier this year. I was immediately impressed by how accurate his Facebook tips are. Now, I’m not a Facebook guy, far from it. But I do acknowledge the power of Facebook and I don’t know who can explain it all better than Jon. Sign up for his weekly podcasts and tell him I said what’s up.
#7 - Francisco Perez @ditesco
Francisco does an excellent job of sharing not only useful tips for internet marketers but also very important industry trends and breaking news that you should pay very close attention to.
#8 - Steve Scott @stevescott1
One of the things that I want to focus on more in 2014 is self publishing. Steve is definitely who I’m inspired by in this department as he has now transitioned into promoting his digital products even more than just his blog.
#9 - Penelope Trunk @penelopetrunk
Penelope makes it all look so easy. I learned a ton from her in my exclusive interview with her earlier this year but more importantly I learned from the example that she sets with her blog and her overall entrepreneur persona. Don’t miss her training coming up in January, get off to a great start in 2014.
#10 – Lisa Irby @2createawebsite
Definitely subscribe to Lisa’s YouTube channel and get an idea of what “doing YouTube right” looks like. Lisa sets an excellent example of the types of topics to cover, how to edit your videos, the latest changes/trends that are important, and much more.
#11 – Gary Vaynerchuk @garyvee

Leave it to Mike to breakdown what’s important in the world of social media in a way that serious entrepreneurs and newbies can understand. Don’t know if you should be investing more in Twitter or Facebook marketing next year? Subscribe to Mikes blog and listen to the podcasts you might be shocked at what you discover. Also, tell him I said what’s up. I’m honored and humbled to have such an important and successful person in the online business world following me @FreedomMMC.
#13 - Rand Fishkin @randfish
It’s important to pay attention to the news that Rand breaks through his blog and twitter feed. Even though I’m not a big SEO advocate and actually I seem to come out better in rankings on my blogs when I completely ignore Google/SEO. It still doesn’t mean his info is not extremely meaningful and obviously useful as his blog Moz.com has embedded itself in the foundation of the internet marketing industry.
…and now without further ado here are
