This week I’m pleased to feature Wade Harman the founder of BloggersMakeMoney.com
Don’t miss the last episode, What I learned from Bamidele Onibalusi Q&A with the founder of WritersInCharge.com
This is the fourteenth edition of the What I learned interview series.
If you haven’t heard bloggers make money.
Or at least they can.
Wade Harman has not only proven this to be true, he has also demonstrated that you can accomplish big things on the internet even if you come from the most unlikely background and circumstances.
Here’s some stats about his site:
BloggersMakeMoney.com
-
Domain Registered: March 2012
-
Alexa Traffic rank: 54,255
-
Twitter followers: 1,821
-
Facebook likes: 1,796
-
Google+ circles: 426
I wanted to share Wade’s story for two reasons.
First I needed to document the fact that his blog was somehow “snubbed” from the #IBCT this year.
I screwed up something somewhere on that one Wade, my bad lol.
Therefore TODAY I nominate BloggersMakeMoney.com early for the 2014 #IBCT, the first nomination.
If there are 640 Million websites on the internet, the top 1% would be the top 6.4 million, if you took the top one percent of these sites you would have the top 64,000 websites.
Based on Alexa Wade’s blog is in the top 1% of the top 1%, WOW.
Let me tell you something, that ain’t easy.
I blog so hard it’s crazy and I’m not even in the top 100k, YET.
My point is this is an extremely impressive accomplishment and it’s very difficult to achieve in 12 months, trust me I know.
The second reason I wanted to share Wade’s story was the circumstances that he had to overcome in order to become a successful blogger.
People ask me all the time do you have to have a background in computers or IT to get into blogging and now I can refer them to Wade as an outstanding example.
This man was once working one of America’s toughest and most dangerous jobs.
He was a coal miner.
That’s the good news.
The bad news is one day he was badly hurt in an accident that forced him out of his job.
What did he do about it?
He pulled himself up by his bootstraps and started a BLOG.
Ok, alright, enough of me, lets go to the interview with Wade Harman the founder of BloggersMakeMoney.com
DARNELL
This past march was the one year anniversary for your domain BloggersMakeMoney.com according to Alexa your site is in the top 0.01% of all websites on the internet. In one sentence or less, how did you do it?
WADE
Consistency was key.
DARNELL
What annoys you the most about the whole internet marketing /make money online industry?
WADE
All the spamming that’s going on out there.
Believe me, when I first started I wasted a lot of money on those guys!
DARNELL
What do you think about the future of social media and email marketing? Will one replace the other or will they both co-exist?
WADE
I believe social media and email marketing will co-exist with each other.
We are already seeing them being merged together, but I think that is as far as it will go.
One will not envelope the other.
DARNELL
Finish this sentence:
Bloggers should use Social Media to ____________ not __________.
WADE
Bloggers should use Social Media to build relationships not post links and forget about it.
DARNELL
You had to actually get crushed in what had to be a excruciatingly painful coal mine accident before you discovered making money online. Now that you have found a system that works. Was it ALL worth it? Explain.
WADE
Yes definitely!
Of course my knee still hurts to this day, but I’m glad it does! It’s a reminder of what I used to do before I found a better way to work!
What I learned from Wade Harman the founder of BloggersMakeMoney.com
#1- GET STARTED NOW
Just think.
If you have already put off not starting your blog you are that much further away from finding success.
Wade got started instead of waiting and now he has built a means to take care of his family through his blog.
…He don’t gotta go in that ‘dirty old mine no more no more no more’
#2 – BE CONSISTENT
This is the difference between winning and losing.
Winners are willing to stay at it and keep working at it over time.
Especially when it seems like nothing is going right they just keep doing what it takes to move forward. They take the next step.
I know one sentence isn’t enough to explain HOW HE DID IT.
HOWEVER, If you really want to know exactly HOW Wade found success with his blog check out his blog posts and podcasts for the last 12 months.
…or SUBSCRIBE to his email list, I hear he has a new book coming out soon.
#3 – SUCCESS, IT’S WORTH THE PAIN
Some people want to gain but they don’t want any pain or discomfort.
I don’t understand why people think success works this way, it’s like they expect someone to just show up with their dreams all gift wrapped just for them.
What I have found in my personal experience is if you get the gain and don’t experience any pain, guess what?
It’s coming.
This is why some of these celebrity kids are so messed up. They had everything handed to them.
I’m always impressed the MOST by people who have to overcome real physical and emotional pain to accomplish success because I believe that PAIN is one of most real things you can experience in THIS life.
Once you get to the point where IT HURTS MOST people quit but some say F IT and keep going anyway.
So, if you are suffering out there in pain and you want to find a better life just think about what Wade has done and know that it’s possible.
I want to thank Wade Harman for taking the time to do this interview.
I’m sure you could have booked another speaking gig and GOT PAID but instead you shared knowledge and I appreciate it.

Hey, loving the interview series idea. Getting to pick the minds of successful people definitely shows that there’s a blueprint for success.
In particular, I think the whole question of consistency is key! Most people want to see short term gains, not realising that a long term investment will reap far greater rewards.
For most businesses, you have to be willing to make several months (in some cases years!) in terms of time investment to really become successful.
Hoping to read the rest of the series!

Thanks Daryl appreciate the feedback that’s exactly why I started the series was to help people learn from the best bloggers by example.
Plus it’s boring just posting tips all week, lol.

Hey Darnell,
You’ve pretty much covered the few bloggers I know – the first ones that come to mind are people like Oni and Tom Ewer. I really love to see interviews with people who’ve made it from the bottom all the way to the upper echelons of the blogsphere. Hopefully you can introduce me to a few new ones!

Darnell, you are a credit to the blogging community and it was my pleasure to give you this info. I am by no means a top professional. I don’t say that I am, and I think this was what drew people to me.
Sorry for the short answers too. We’ll have to give them more in the G+ Hangout tonight! But for everyone that is starting a blog, be consistent with it! Create great content, approach another blogger(like Darnell did), and make relationships! It will come eventually…remember, its a marathon, not a sprint!
